According to a recent Health Authority survey, eating habits among the great majority of teenagers are changing for the better.

The report found that one third of 11 years boys and two thirds of 11 years old girls are on a diet. However, two out of three boys still eat fried food at least every other day. Moreover, seventy five percent prefer eating healthier cereals and wholemeal bread for breakfast rather than the traditional British Bacon and eggs. In addition, all young people appear to be eating less junk food such as hamburgers and pizza, although more than half of those interviewed eat meat every day.

The report concluded that, the habit of eating sweet foods still persists. Despite much more awareness of healthier eating among the 11 – 16 age of group, sweet snacks are the weakness of most young people. Ninety percent of them find fizzy drinks, crisps and chocolate irresistible, and none of them said they would stop eating them.
