Television plays an important part in the lives of children. Parents and teachers in Britain are often concerned about how much time they spend watching T.V

According to a recent survey, teenagers watch between two and four hours a day. Many children watch T.V in the morning over breakfast but most viewing takes place after school in the evening. Peak viewing time for teenagers are between seven and nine o’clock. Girls watch more drama series, documentaries and news programmes. Boys watch science fiction movies and sport.

Between the hours four and six, when the programmes are specifically aimed at children, the viewing figures are much lower.

What parents should consider is not only the number of hours that their children spend in front of their television but also which programmes are suitable to them.
